Process & Tools

Research:

Research involved a combination of user behavior analysis, competitive benchmarking, and A/B testing to ensure accurate design direction. User insights were gathered through guided and unguided usability testing to understand preferences, engagement patterns, and potential friction points. Competitive analysis was conducted to study industry trends and best practices in interstitial ad placements, ensuring alignment with user expectations while maximizing effectiveness. Additionally, A/B testing was used to validate different design variations, measuring user engagement metrics such as click-through rates, dwell time, and dismiss rates. This data-driven approach ensured that the final design balanced user experience with advertising objectives.

Outcome & Impact

Results:

The Microzine saw a significant engagement rate [>7%] and dwell time metrics [2-3 min Avg.] and was responsible for exceeding a variety of client KPIs.

Reflections:

While the product itself was a resounding success in the Digital Ad space the high engagement and dwell rates proved challenging to validate with various Publishers and Ad Networks which resulted in delayed payments. This could have been mitigated through better collaboration with the Publishers.
